NaPoWriMo 12 ~ One Sentence / 40 Lines

Sounds daunting, doesn't it? One sentence in 40 lines. It was the NaPoWriMo day 11 prompt. It showed up here at 12:01 a.m. mountain standard time. It was fun to write, and I hope you all like it. It gave me a little break from darkness--I feel grateful for the prompt.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
pancakes
If miracles
were pancakes
I still
would not have enough
to stack 40 of them
together
in this one
insane sentence
that drips
with adjectives
like sweet
and sticky
down the Page
du Jour’s
endless and empty
white space
ready for
mass consumption
or
at least
a reader or two
who stop along
their NaPoWriMo way
to feast on this
one poet’s
feeble attempt
to create
a 40 line
poem that
embraces
one flipping
long sentence
to say
something
that means
anything
or nothing at all
without running on
or needing
more butter.
Now that's what I call a sentence and it surely is poetry. I love pancakes, and butter. Ergo, I love your poem.
Oh!!! I love it! I'm working on one of these now. I love what you've done, and the ending is brilliant. You did a great job of sticking to your pancake theme.
Did yourself proud there...
I did a 38 liner one time, so I didn't go for this one
Tricky! But I love the pancake analogy/imagery. And I especially love the last line.
I love pancakes and you tackled this stack with gusto and good sense imagery.
I love this, Brenda! Pancakes and butter, yum:) A 40 line sentence seemed daunting to me, but you handled it beautifully.
That there is a nice stack of pancakes. Nicely done. I too am now inspired to try to write a poem to that prompt. Thanks.
Thank you all for stopping and commenting. If I had more time, I'd comment on every comment. School's tight, and I'd rather come read your poems and comment there.
It is nice to know that a love of pancakes is worldwide! And Mr. Walker, I'll be looking for your 40 line sentence! :-)
