V is for the villain
who visits our village at night.
To enter, pillage, and kill us
it prowls through absent light.
It creeps in family dwellings,
and opens unlocked doors.
It steal our sons and daughters
and turn them into whores.
Powdered it sniffs up noses.
Liquid it stealths into veins.
The villain catches them any which way
and slowly addles their brains.

The inspiration for this piece is the Montana Meth Project's television commercials depicting the effects of methamphetamine on young people. Visit the website, take a look around. Some of the commercials are posted there. They have had a significant impact on lowering teen drug use in our state.
Shout out to ABC Wednesday for the prompt. Visit their link to see both photo and text responses to this week's letter, V.

Meth is without a doubt a Villain of major proportions! Great words! I lived in Montana for 16 years, raised my family there. Hope you have a wonderful week!

A true Villain to beware of!
Great piece, raising awareness of what truly is a villain.
Sounds scary. I prefer heroes to villains.
A true villain. I've seen some of the ads and understand that meth use is dropping a bit.
Wow, a very impressive post. A very dangerous villian.
Interesting. (I work at the ER, so I see it a lot,unfortunately...)
romantic and cute v post.
Smiles!

Thanks for stopping and dropping your words, everyone. I love ABC Wednesday!
Tumblewords, Not only has teen meth use in MT dropped, correspondingly, meth related crime has dropped. The images in the advertisements are powerful. In my city they permeate prime time television on the major networks.
Great "V" -- powerful...
An atmospheric poem, the villain made flesh.
Good news that the campaign is working.
It's crazy that anyone would want to try that stuff. Have you seen the way people look who've used Meth? Terrible. That alone is enough to scare me away from it.
What a strangely beautiful old-fashioned poem for such an ugly modern thing. Thought provoking ...
Such a horrible villian indeed. Hopefully one that will be slain by education before newer generations ignorantly give it a go.
